Opstan is an open decentralized network for public channels, messages, publications, proofs and simple blockchain operations.

What is Opstan?

Opstan is an independent peer-to-peer blockchain network. It lets users create public channels, publish messages, send coins and store public proofs in the blockchain. For a regular user Opstan looks like an app or wallet, but underneath it is powered by nodes and miners.

What is Opstan for?

The main idea of Opstan is to give people and projects a place for public publications that cannot simply be deleted from one center. These can be news, statements, posts, document hashes, proofs, project updates and messages in public channels.

When did Opstan appear?

The idea of Opstan appeared in 2025, and the first block of the network was created that year. Development then continued with nodes, wallets, the website, explorers, applications, mining and community tools.

Who controls the Opstan network?

No single center owns Opstan. The network is supported by users, nodes and miners. The informational website, wallets and applications only help people use the network; they do not own the blockchain and cannot control it alone.

How does Opstan work?

An Opstan node connects to other nodes, receives blocks, verifies operations and forwards data. Miners create new blocks, while users send operations, messages and publications. After confirmations, information becomes part of the shared network history.

What is a public channel?

A public channel is a place where the channel owner can publish messages to the blockchain. Channels are useful for news, announcements, project updates, public reputation and proofs that should remain openly available.

Legality and responsibility

Opstan is a tool and a network. Every user is responsible for what they publish, send and do through their wallets, channels and nodes.

Is Opstan legal?

Opstan is an open blockchain network and software tool. Rules for cryptography, blockchain, mining, tokens and public publishing can differ by country. Before using the network, running a node, mining or publishing materials, check the laws and rules in your country.

Who is responsible for publications?

The person who creates and signs a publication with their wallet is responsible for it. Opstan Foundation, the informational website and app developers are not the authors of user messages and do not automatically endorse what individual users publish.

What if someone publishes unacceptable content?

In an open network, some people may try to publish unacceptable or illegal content. The informational website does not advertise such accounts, does not promote links to their messages and is not responsible for the actions of individual users. The author of a publication is responsible for their own content before the law and society.

Can Opstan be regulated?

The protocol works as a distributed network: it cannot simply be changed from one center. But the use of blockchain, mining, tokens, applications or public publications can be regulated by the laws of a specific country. Users and companies should follow local rules.

A node is a tool

An Opstan node is like a browser or an email client: it helps connect to the network, read data, send operations and publish messages. The tool itself is neutral. What matters is how a user applies it and what materials they publish.

Taxes and rules

If you receive rewards, income, coins or use Opstan for commercial purposes, check the tax and legal requirements of your jurisdiction in advance. This page is not legal advice.

A channel name does not prove authenticity Opstan is an open-source network. We do not control the creation or naming of channels. A name alone does not mean that a channel belongs to a company, organization or public figure. Treat a channel as official only when its address is published through a verified resource of the owner. Until verification is introduced on opstan.org, do not rely on a name alone: a matching name does not prove any connection. Verified channel labels will be added to the website in the future.
The role of opstan.org opstan.org is the informational website of the Opstan Foundation. The website and domain resources help users access information and connect to the network, but they do not manage the blockchain, nodes, channels or publications and do not control the open network.

Quick start for beginners

To start using Opstan, download the desktop node or use the online version of Opstan. In the network you can read messages, publish messages, send coins and check operations in the explorer.

Choose how to enter

You can download the Opstan node to your computer or use the online version without downloading the blockchain. The node is for full network participation, while the online version is for an easy start, reading channels, publishing and using the wallet.

What you can do in Opstan

You can read public messages, publish your own messages in channels, send coins between wallets and check any operation in the explorer. Opstan works as a blockchain: important actions become network operations.

Current fee

Right now the network is not loaded, so for messages and transfers you can safely set the fee to 0. There is no need to pay yet — the operation will go through. Later, as the network grows, we will add a convenient fee helper based on the average fee in previous blocks.

Mempool and queue

After sending, an operation enters the mempool and waits for the next block. At this early stage the app sends operations one by one: do not send two messages or two transactions in a row until the first operation enters a block. This is done for protection and stable app operation. This will be improved in the future; developers can already work through the command line.

Main point: for a regular user, the online version or a simple app is enough. Start by reading channels, then try sending a small operation and check it in the explorer.

Mining in Opstan

Mining keeps Opstan running: thanks to miners, new blocks are created, operations are confirmed and the network remains independent. Every miner is a protector of the network, helping prevent anyone from deleting, stopping or controlling Opstan.

Solo mining

Solo mining means your node mines independently. If you find a block, the reward already belongs to your wallet, but the network freezes the coinbase reward for 100 blocks. After maturation, the reward becomes spendable — this is done for stability, as in many blockchains. The advantage of solo mining is independence from a pool and direct participation in the network. The downside is that with low power, finding a block can take a long time.

Pool mining

Pool mining means many miners combine their power. If the pool finds a block, the reward is distributed among participants according to their contribution. The advantage is that payouts are usually more stable for smaller miners. The downside is that you depend on the pool rules and honesty.

A miner protects the network

Thanks to mining, the network exists and continues to work without a central owner. Miners confirm blocks, support consensus and protect Opstan history from deletion and control by one center. Thank you to every miner who helps the network stay alive.

Watch your PC load

If you mine, watch temperature, noise, CPU/GPU load and computer stability. Increase power gradually, do not overdo it and do not start too many threads at once. For a beginner, it is better to start carefully and check how the computer behaves.

Where to find detailed instructions

Detailed steps and instructions are available in the mining section of the website. There you can learn how mining works, how to connect to a pool and how to run different modes.

Main point: mining is a contribution to the life of the network, but it also puts load on your computer. Start with low power, watch temperature and stability, do not overdo it, and if you are not sure, use pool mining and read the instructions carefully.

Opstan pool and third-party pools

If you want to mine through a pool, first study the connection address, payout rules and fee. A pool helps miners combine power and receive rewards more regularly, but each pool's rules should be checked separately.

Payout rules and fees

Instructions, payout rules and fees are available on the pool website. Before starting mining, open the pool website and calmly study the terms: how rewards are calculated, when payouts are made, what the fee is and whether there is a minimum payout threshold.

Third-party pools

You may use third-party pools, but we do not control them. Be careful: check that the pool follows clear rules, correctly shows your work, and that payouts and fees are transparent and comfortable for you.

Main point: before connecting to any pool, always check the address, payout rules, fee and terms. If something is unclear, first study the information on the pool website, and only then start mining.

Safety and technical questions

These points help explain confirmations, forks, the explorer, wallet safety, P2P connections, public nodes and current Opstan version limits.

Confirmations and 7 confirmations

When an operation enters a block, it receives its first confirmation. Each new block added after it gives one more confirmation. The more confirmations there are, the more securely the operation is fixed in history. For Opstan, 7 confirmations are a good reference point: after that, an operation or publication is considered much safer.

What is a fork

A fork is a temporary situation where two different block branches appear in the network. This can happen when two miners find a block almost at the same time. Then the network chooses the main chain, and the shorter branch stops being the main one. That is why confirmations matter, especially for important operations.

Why an operation is not visible in the explorer immediately

A new operation first enters the mempool, then waits to be included in a block, and only after that receives confirmations. Because of this, a balance, message or transaction may not appear in the explorer instantly. If the operation is still waiting, check history, the mempool and wait for a new block.

Seed phrase safety

Your seed phrase and private keys are access to your coins and address. Never send them to anyone, never paste them into untrusted websites, never store them openly online and never publish screenshots. If someone gets your seed phrase, they can access your wallet.

P2P, IP and opening ports

Opstan is a P2P network, so nodes exchange addresses to find each other and transfer blocks, operations and messages. If you want to become a more complete part of the network, you can enable a public node, open a port and mine. For full connectivity, your IP may be shared between nodes. This is not a hidden automatic function: you choose whether to enable public mode/port opening or not. Be careful and use this mode only if you understand what you are doing.

Public node and standard node

Standard node is suitable for regular users: it connects to the network and works without extra setup. Public node is for those who want to be more reachable by other nodes. In public mode, port opening may be used so other nodes can connect to you. This helps decentralization, but requires attention to network, router and security settings.

Why the node downloads the blockchain

A full node downloads the blockchain because the blockchain contains the history of blocks and operations. This lets the node verify the network by itself instead of trusting a single server. If you do not want to download the blockchain, use the online version of Opstan or light apps where data is provided through existing infrastructure.

Private messages are not available yet

Private messages are planned as a future possibility, but in the current version they are not available for regular users. The current focus is public channels, publications, coin transfers, wallet, nodes and mining. Private messages will be considered later when a more reliable and safer approach is ready.

Important: the more independent users run nodes, mine, verify blocks and create their own applications, the stronger Opstan becomes. But public mode, port opening and mining require attention — enable them consciously.

User responsibility

Opstan is a decentralized blockchain and software tool. The user makes their own decisions, publishes their own data, stores their own seed phrase and is responsible for their own actions in the network.

A seed phrase cannot be restored

If you lose your seed phrase or private keys, the informational website, developers and other network participants cannot restore access to your wallet. In a decentralized blockchain there is no central support that can return your seed phrase, cancel your operation or control your wallet.

Publications and coins are your responsibility

You are responsible for texts, channels, messages, coin transfers, fees, recipient addresses and any actions you send to the network. Before publishing or transferring, check everything carefully: the blockchain is designed as immutable history.

The informational website does not control the network

This website helps explain Opstan, publishes materials and links to tools, but it does not own the network, does not control all nodes, does not manage all publications and cannot be responsible for actions of individual users.

Materials are provided as is

All materials, instructions, applications and links are provided as is. This is not financial, legal, tax, investment or commercial advice. You use Opstan on your own initiative and must independently evaluate risks, the laws of your country and the technical consequences of your actions.

Before using Opstan, read the website documents carefully and keep your seed phrase in a safe place. If you are not sure about an action, do not send the operation until you understand it.

Consensus rules are the base rules used by Opstan nodes to verify blocks, operations, signatures, rewards, limits, chains and network compatibility. This is a technical document for developers, miners, node operators and everyone who wants to understand the network more deeply.
